With unique vision, staggering vocal range and a wry sense of knowing, Radie Peat distils the essence of folk music into her songs and performances. Already one of Ireland’s most influential and revered vocalists, Peat is celebrated for her powerful contralto voice, technical vocal authority, and emotional depth. Peat’s trajectory as a multi-instrumentalist musician and singer began when she took up the concertina at a young age and started singing and playing alongside her sisters at traditional Irish music sessions. Music was a solace during formative teenage years, during which time she became great friends with Cormac Mac Diarmada. The two would later join with Ian and Daragh Lynch to form contemporary Irish folk music group, Lankum. With their shared depth of knowledge, musical agility, lyrical talent and abundant creative chemistry the group has become a cornerstone of contemporary Irish folk. More recently Peat formed ØXN alongside Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler, and John ‘Spud’ Murphy to create a doom folk supergroup characterised by pensive lamentations from the darker side of the Irish storytelling and song tradition.

Rough Trade Records are excited to share Radie Peat’s debut solo single - an interpretation of the popular traditional love song, ‘Still I Love Him’. With unique vision, staggering vocal range and a wry sense of knowing, Peat is celebrated for her powerful contralto voice, technical vocal authority, and emotional depth, she distils the essence of folk music, breathing life into old songs and carrying them forward with new meaning, both sustaining and enriching the Irish singing tradition, her strength of will palpable through poised delivery. On ‘Still I Love Him’ Peat traverses the peaks and troughs of romantic relationships, carrying a message of strength and sovereignty out of a song that can easily change shape according to the one that sings it.
