DESCRIPTION:The Harmonic Drift Composers Collective presents Short Films ab
	out Music\, Sound\,\nand Composition at 7:30pm on Thursday 9 April.\n\nThi
s event is free and open to the public.\n\nThe Harmonic Drift Composers Co
llective is a network of composers\, sound\nartists\, and music makers for
med to support the development of new experimental\nwork. The collective p
rovides a platform for sharing expertise\, peer mentorship\,\nand creating
opportunities for the presentation of new music in Leitrim and\ninternati
onally.\n\nShort Films about Music\, Sound\, and Composition will include
screenings of four\nshort films followed by a Q&A with collective members
Sophie Cooper\, Eimear\nReidy\, and Natalia Beylis regarding their practic
es and the film's relation to\ntheir work.\n\nTickets are available for fr
	ee here.\n[https://www.thedock.ie/whats-on/short-films-about-music-sound-a
	nd-composition]\n\n\nSHORT FILM SCHEDULE:\n\n—\n\nTitle: Tumuli (Premierin
	g at The Dock)\nBy: Orla McHardy\nSoundtrack: Eimear Reidy\nRuntime: 8 min
54 sec\n\nDescription:\nTumuli takes its name from the tumulus — mounds o
	f earth and stone raised over\ngraves. A mound\, a heap\, a stack: a buria
	l site\, a flowerbed in a back garden\, a\ncompost heap\, a pile of dirty
	dishes.\n\nCommissioned in 2022 by Hunter’s Moon\, the film emerged from a
collaboration\nbetween Orla McHardy and Eimear Reidy for a live event at
The Swan Lake Inn\,\nEffrinagh\, Co. Leitrim. Drawing inspiration from her
home and garden\, McHardy\ncreated the visual world of Tumuli\, while Rei
dy gathered field recordings onsite\nand composed a musical score in direc
t response to the film’s textures and\nrhythms.\n\nMcHardy\, an artist bas
ed in the Northwest\, works across expanded animation\,\nvideo\, text\, do
cumentary\, collage\, and sculptural installation. Her practice\noften eng
ages questions of value and invisibility\, particularly around the\nhidden
	 time of care\, love\, and labour.\n\n—\n\nTitle: Forest/ry\nBy: Noelle Ga
	llagher\nSoundtrack: Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy\nRuntime: 7 min 18 sec\
n\nDescription:\nForest/ry observes a landscape in transition at Derryclar
e\, on the edge of the\nTwelve Bens in Connemara. Noelle Gallagher follows
the felling of Sitka spruce\nplantations\, revealing the sharp contrast b
etween industrial forestry and the\nneighbouring ancient oak forest — wher
	e dense\, silent monoculture gives way to\nvibrant\, biodiverse life.\n\nT
hrough atmospheric sound and imagery\, the film reframes deforestation not
\nsimply as loss\, but as a precursor to ecological renewal. As part of Ga
llagher’s\nwider Fractals and Jay Birds project\, the film reflects on res
toration\,\ninterdependence\, and the delicate relationship between human
intervention and\nnatural systems. What emerges is a restrained but hopefu
	l vision of regeneration\nrising from disruption.\n\n—\n\nTitle: Oh Boy! T
	he Drums… Even More Drums!!\nBy: Willie Stewart\nRuntime: 4 min 41 sec\n\n
Description:\nThis short film captures a solo drum performance by Willie S
tewart\, recorded\nacross multiple locations in Leitrim and Roscommon in J
uly 2020\, shot by Natalia\nBeylis. Featuring an appearance by Rooster the
	 dog.\n\n—\n\nTitle: Land and Brass\nBy: Nick Farramond\nRuntime: 13 min 2
sec\n\nDescription:\nLand and Brass documents an exhibition and body of w
ork commissioned by Culture\nCoop\, bringing together sound artist Sophie
Cooper and Milnrow Brass Band. First\npresented at Rochdale Exchange in Ju
ne 2025\, the project merges experimental\nsound practices with the long-s
tanding brass band traditions of Rochdale and the\nPennines.\n\nDeveloped
with input from a community steering group\, the work explores the\nmeetin
g point between contemporary composition and local musical heritage.\nInsp
ired by damaged brass instruments at Rath’s Trombones in Huddersfield\,\nC
ooper reimagined these broken instruments as part of a bespoke sound syste
	m —\nallowing them a final\, transformed voice.\n\nThe installation featur
es Echoes and Reclamation\, a composition for brass\nquintet that draws on
the structures of traditional brass writing\, reshaped\nthrough repetitio
n\, distortion\, and field recordings tied to Milnrow’s\nlandscape. The pr
oject also features artistic responses from members of Ebor\nStudio\, supp
	orted by The Outlands Network.\n\n—
