DESCRIPTION:Trick Mist launches his new album 'A Shimmering' with special g
uest Niamh Dalton\non support.\n\nTrick Mist is Cork-based artist and mult
i instrumentalist musician Gavin Murray.\nHis music channels traditional I
rish music through an abstract prism conjuring a\ncontemplative liminal la
ndscape between reality and imagination. Shaped by a\nlove of sean-nós sin
ging\, experimental sound processing\, colloquial absurdist\nlyrics and th
e writings of Irish mystic John Moriarty his music forges an\nenvironment
that is simultaneously familiar and transcendent.\n\nThe album emerged fro
m a series of experiments teasing out notions of 'abstract\ntrad' (digital
ly processing and expanding the range and function of\ntrad-associated ins
truments and sean nós singing) and 'primal electronica'\n(soundscapes whic
h reference electronica but which are made with acoustic\ninstruments). Fe
aturing collaborations with Dan Walsh (Fixity) and Niamh Dalton\n(Ana Pali
ndrome)\, the album\, inspired by the Irish mythological concept of\n'limi
nal space'\, aims to subvert trad's connection to the past instead telling
\ncautionary tales about the future.\n\nTickets available now via RA [http
	s://ra.co/events/2506503].\n\nArt by Irene Mansoldo.\n\n~~~\n\nDOSE promot
	e safe\, inclusive spaces - transphobia\, homophobia\, racism and any\noth
er form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
