DESCRIPTION:Join Dublin Print Club\, at FLUX D2 this May Bank holiday for s
ome creative\,\nnature based workshops in celebration of Bealtaine.\n\nThe
y say that herbs collected and potions brewed at Bealtaine have greater\np
owers and potency! That’s why we think this a great time to have a radical
\nrethink of how we work\, and to set intentions to work with greater care
\, and\nstronger connections to the land around us\, whether we live in th
e wilds or in\nurban settings where cracks in the concrete host micro jung
les.\n\nCelebrating Bealtaine\, the ‘Return of the Light’ and the beginnin
g of the\nsummer\, Dublin Print Club Studio will host a mini festival expl
oring Botanicals\nin Printmaking with visual artist and master printmaker
Karen Browett. We are\noffering a weekend of Bealtaine themed workshops ex
ploring more ecologically\nsound and lopwer impact ways of making art\, us
ing cyanotype and anthotype\nprocesses\, both of which are used to create
‘photogram’ styled prints.\n\n\n\nIntroduction to Cyanotype and Toning you
	r Prints\n\nDublin Print Club Studio\n\nSaturday 2nd May\, 2-6pm\, €80 (di
scounted weekend ticket\, both workshops €120)\n\nCyanotype is a low toxic
ity iron based print process which is created using\nsunlight. Typically u
sed to create botanically accurate prints of plant life\, it\ncan also be
effectively used to reproduce photographs\, objects and drawings in a\nric
h blue tone. These blue prints can then be toned to other colours by soaki
ng\nin botanical potions.\n\nLearn all stages of cyanotype making as part
of this creative workshop\, covering\nthe basics of both direct printing f
rom plants to the making of a digital\nnegative. Participants will have th
e opportunity to make a number of prints\nexperimenting with techniques an
d layouts and will learn everything they need to\ncreate further images at
home using the process.\n\nParticipants will also learn to create toners
from botanical sources and simple\nkitchen supplies. . With these witchy b
rews we will shift the colours of our\nprints\, opening up the potentials
for a wider palette of finished prints. Each\nparticipant will leave with
some finished prints and knowledge of materials and\nprocesses to continue
their experiments following the workshop.\n\n\n\n\n\nAnthotype Eco-Printm
	aking\n\nDublin Print Club Studio\n\nSunday 3rd May\, 2-5pm\, €60 (discoun
ted weekend ticket\, both workshops €120)\n\nAn anthotype print is the ult
imate DIY print process! Anthotype is a sustainable\nprint process which m
akes use of plants people deem overly abundant weeds and\nkitchen waste\,
transforming them into something beautiful. This workshop will\nprovide an
introduction to the process and everything you need to equip you to\ndeve
lop your own prints at home and is suited to beginners or artists looking
to\nexplore eco friendly approaches to making art.\n\nPrints using this pr
ocess can take anywhere from a few hours to a few months to\ndevelop\, bri
nging a kind of magic into your printmaking\, the anthotype process\ncreat
es soft\, ethereal and one off photogram type images. This process really
is\nan exercise in slow art making and letting go!\n\nParticipants will le
arn about the process and make a number of emulsions\ntogether. We will ta
lk through creating film positives from photographs as well\nas composing
prints from botanical samples. Participants will explore different\nplants
that could be used\, what to/not to collect and how to find anthotype\nem
ulsion in any scenario. We will work with pestle and mortars to create a\n
library of coloured scented magic imbued sheets of summer potential to use
	 in\nour work.\n\nEventbrite booking link:\n\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ie/e/
