	l minimalism. Their first encounter was in the septet Alasdair\nRoberts & 
	Völvur\, which released the LP The Old Fabled River on Drag City\nRecords 
	in 2021.The record combined Roberts’s compositions with versions of\nScott
	ish and Norwegian traditional songs.\n\nOn Seven Weathers\, their forthcom
	ing double album for Drag City Records\, Roberts\nand Rasten focus on trad
	itional Scottish narrative ballads\, typically of long\nduration\, where s
	lowly evolving musical materials build up throughout the\nstrophic verse-s
	tructure to emphasise the storytelling. They choose ballads with\ncare\, f
	avouring time-transcending narrative themes that both bear witness to the\
	nday and age of their origin and are relevant to our times\, be that polit
	ically\,\nculturally or ethically. Both sing and play a variety of acousti
	c and electronic\ninstruments\, Roberts’s clear and unadorned vocal delive
	ry blending with Rasten’s\nsensibilities of just intonation tuning and tim
	bral qualities of sound.\n\nSeven Weathers is scheduled for release in Jan
	uary 2027\, and Roberts and Rasten\nwill concurrently undertake a short al
	bum launch tour. Throughout 2024/5 they\nhave enjoyed concerts in Glasgow\
	, Berlin\, Prague\, Motvind Festival (Norway)\,\nFanø Free Folk Festival (
	Denmark) and ne:ar Festival (Slovakia)\, and have an\nupcoming appearance 
	at Frequency Festival (Chicago\, USA) in February 2026 as\nwell as a short
